Eco-friendly paper?

While digital technology continues to expand its influence, and all-digital technology becomes the norm, we remain faithful to paper, not only because we know the pleasure of reading a beautiful medium, but also because we are convinced that paper has solid eco-responsible arguments.

We have chosen PEFC-labeled paper to guarantee sustainable forest management: trees are planted and replanted in such a way as to guarantee supply without depleting natural resources.

Our magazine is 100% recyclable: we use acrylic varnish on the cover. Recycling paper reduces waste and the consumption of raw materials.
We print in the Alps, in a short circuit: in less than two hours’ drive, our magazines arrive at their distribution site. Our printer holds the Imprim’Vert label, for greater respect for the environment.

Our Altus magazines are “keeper” magazines: we know that you’ll take them home with you, and that they’ll live on for many years in your library, without any CO2 emissions… Unlike e-mails and data stored on servers: if the Internet were a country, it would be the world’s third largest consumer of electricity, after China and the USA!

So yes, as long as we live, we pollute, but we’re doing everything we can to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible, while offering you the best possible reading comfort.

LA MINE, THE NEW TOBOGGAN ON RAILS

You may know it as Speed Mountain. The toboggan run in the Bruyères area of Les Menuires is now called La Mine, in homage to the valley’s coal mines, exploited by the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. The attraction has been transformed to reflect the spirit and history of these mines. As soon as you step into the carriages, you’ll be plunged into an immersive and captivating adventure. You’ll be propelled at full speed through an ingenious network of railways, following the itinerary of the valiant miners who worked hard to transport their precious commodity.
The Mine is open to children aged five and over (minimum 1.10 m) on a parent’s sled, and ten and over (1.40 m) solo.

VAL-THORENS ALL IN LETTERS

Val-Thorens is also embracing the giant lettering trend! Two emblematic spots in the ski area, easily accessible at all times of year, have been chosen on the green “Traversée des deux lacs” ski slope and on the Montagnettes footpath. There, you can immortalise your stay and take a souvenir photo in front of the giant letters of the resort’s name, against a backdrop of marvellous snow-capped peaks.
Les Menuires also proudly displays its XXL identity at the top of the pointe de la Masse, on the panoramic terrace. The 13-metre structure has become one of the resort’s best-known photo spots.

BEST SKI RESORT IN THE WORLD

It’s hardly a surprise any more… Val-Thorens likes to collect trophies. It was voted “World’s Best Ski Resort” for the eighth time, out of 24 destinations nominated. A firm favourite with Internet users on social networks, Val-Tho is currently the most awarded resort in the world. It has also won the prestigious title of “European Best Ski Resort” six times in a row and has been voted “Best French Resort” nine times. The secret? As well as being the highest resort in Europe (2,300 m), we love it for its atmosphere, its omnipresent pioneering spirit, the beauty of its landscapes, its sunshine and exceptional snow conditions…

LES MENUIRES,
A RESORT OF THE SIXTIES

This winter Les 3 Vallées resort has existed for 60 years! Controversial for its architectural style (for a long time it was likened to a “low-income snow resort”), Les Menuires has managed to establish itself as a must- visit destination for skiers from around the world. Its skiing, on the other hand, has always garnered unanimous praise, and since its inception, the resort has maintained a position that is both athletic and family oriented. Today, its resort model is a source of pride, especially at a time when environmentally conscious mountain architecture is a concern. To discover the resort, free guided tours of “Les Menuires en pleine lumière” will be organised during the school holidays by FACIM (registration required at the tourist office). Holidaymakers can also take home a creation by the artist Docteur Paper, an illustrator who has crafted an exclusive work for the resort, depicting its architecture and history. Sixty numbered posters will even be given away throughout the year to visitors born, like Les Menuires, in 1964.

A FOOTBRIDGE TO TAKE IN THE VIEW!

Come and enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view from the most emblematic summit in the Vanoise mountain range! This winter, Val-Thorens is inaugurating a panoramic footbridge leading to a platform suspended in mid- air at the very top of the cime Caron! It’s accessible to skiers and pedestrians alike, who can experience the thrill of the surrounding peaks, which are easy to identify thanks to the orientation table. This panoramic footbridge is the cornerstone of a future complex due to open in winter 2025-2026.
