Eco-friendly paper?

While digital technology continues to expand its influence, and all-digital technology becomes the norm, we remain faithful to paper, not only because we know the pleasure of reading a beautiful medium, but also because we are convinced that paper has solid eco-responsible arguments.

We have chosen PEFC-labeled paper to guarantee sustainable forest management: trees are planted and replanted in such a way as to guarantee supply without depleting natural resources.

Our magazine is 100% recyclable: we use acrylic varnish on the cover. Recycling paper reduces waste and the consumption of raw materials.
We print in the Alps, in a short circuit: in less than two hours’ drive, our magazines arrive at their distribution site. Our printer holds the Imprim’Vert label, for greater respect for the environment.

Our Altus magazines are “keeper” magazines: we know that you’ll take them home with you, and that they’ll live on for many years in your library, without any CO2 emissions… Unlike e-mails and data stored on servers: if the Internet were a country, it would be the world’s third largest consumer of electricity, after China and the USA!

So yes, as long as we live, we pollute, but we’re doing everything we can to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible, while offering you the best possible reading comfort.

NEW ARTHUR BAUCHET PISTE!

8 Paralympic medals (including 3 gold), 16 World Championship medals (including 10 gold) and 16 Crystal Globes: Arthur Bauchet needs no introduction. The skier from Serre Chevalier has done it all on the world Paralympic circuit and deserved to have a piste named after him! This year it’s done: the old black Cabane du Berger piste (from the top of Prorel towards the Chantemerle sector) has just been renamed the Arthur Bauchet piste!

LA CABANE À SUCRE, A TASTE OF CANADA ON THE SLOPES

Sandrine Sucette and David Crockett have brought a concept straight from Canada, where David lived for several years, to the slopes of Serre Chevalier: a sugar shack where you can make and enjoy your own delicious honey lollipops. Following the success of their first log ‘tavern’ on the Myrtilles piste (featuring lollipops, “trapper” plates, etc.), this winter the couple are opening a second sugar shack on the Barres piste (in Villeneuve, by the Pontillas cable car). Accessible on snowshoes – a new feature – after a 30-minute walk, the sugar shack is a warm and fun place to enjoy a lollipop made with local honey, as well as marshmallows grilled on the fire, hot drinks and, for adults, the famous PCR (apple, cinnamon, rum) and other local spirits.

THIS YEAR, THE GRAND PRIX
IS HAVING A FESTIVAL!

The Grand Prix de Serre Chevalier, the biggest gathering of amateur skiers in the world, is back this year with a 3-day programme of festivities on 22nd, 23rd and 24th March 2024. More than 2,500 skiers from 6 to 82 years of age and over 10 nationalities will be taking part in this legendary race. They choose either a “Gentle” or a “Crazy” course to hurtle down the entire ski area in a series of zany events, some of which have become cult favourites. A few surprises have been added to make this edition even crazier! Read our dedicated article on page 80 to find out all about this party, which brings together skiers, volunteers and supporters in a good-natured, relaxed atmosphere. Benjamin Védrines, the world’s fastest climber

Mountaineer Benjamin Védrines from Monêtier-les-Bains is as agile as a chamois.
Take a look at his accomplishments: nominated three times for the Piolets d’Or, records for climbing Broad Peak (8,051 m, in 7 h 28), the Chamonix-Zermatt traverse (14 h 54), the Meije traverse (4 h 38) and the Spaghetti Tour in Italy (18 summits in 9 h 18).
When he was not paragliding, climbing, extreme skiing or on an expedition to Pakistan, the versatile mountaineer in his thirties sat down to answer Altus’ questions.
