Carpentry the sharp edge of interior design
A key profession in interior design, carpenters have various missions. Beyond the technical aspects of manufacturing and fitting, carpentry also has a very creative side. To find out more about this craft, we interviewed Yvan Martinod, master carpenter and manager of the Martinod group.
What made you go into carpentry?
I’m the fourth generation of carpenters in the Martinod family. I tried to become a chef, just
to annoy my father, but I quickly developed
a passion for woodwork and began an apprenticeship. Following a family incident in 2003, I started running the company, which I then bought out in 2005. A friend of mine, Grégory Dravet, who was an apprentice in our workshops, later joined me at the head of the Martinod group. We complement each other well and have built a real partnership.
