Altitude has never been so alluring, so captivating. The last bastion of freedom, the mountains offer an escape far from the frenetic pace of everyday life. Nature reveals itself there in all its strength, inviting humility and authenticity. This is what also makes it a place conducive to reunions, whether with family or friends. For some, it holds childhood memories in their favorite resort, like an anchor. Everyone comes seeking the unforgettable, those precious moments that can only be experienced at altitude.
The mountains are a muse, inspiring athletes and artists alike, such as the photographers we followed on the trail of peaks over 4,000 meters in this issue. They skillfully capture suspended moments of rare intensity. More than a vacation spot, the mountains offer a multifaceted experience. Skiing and the pleasures of gliding remain essential, but there are other challenges, other ways to enjoy the altitude. Everyone, at their own pace, draws from the range of activities available according to their aspirations.
Like the mountain guides we met in this issue, adaptability is the main quality of mountaineers. To the climate, to visitors’ expectations, to current trends. From this positive energy emerge new projects, new inspirations, and different ways of reinventing an ever-evolving ecosystem. Everyone is a driver of change. Interactions between locals, vacationers, and professionals spark unexplored paths, gradually shaping a new version of the mountains. A vibrant mountain, faithful to its roots, and with eyes turned toward the future.

A 5th STAR
FOR LODGE PARK

Thanks to a meticulous and careful renovation, Lodge Park, a creation of the Sibuet family, has just earned its fifth star. Redesigned with Scottish fabrics, leather, fine wood, and fur throws, new 50 m² suites offer breathtaking views of the mountains. The chalet has also expanded with an 800 m² wellness area, featuring an indoor pool, saunas, hammam, fitness room, ice room, and Himalayan salt room, not to mention Pure Altitude treatments. On the culinary side, guests can enjoy local meats, such as Abondance T-bone steaks cooked in an Argentine oven, or indulge in gourmet snacks by the fireside. With this newly awarded fifth star, Lodge Park marks a new milestone in its development and secures its place as one of Megève’s must-visit destinations.

Megève, a Year-Round Destination

In Megève, developing the shoulder seasons has become a priority, with the resort leveraging its proximity to Geneva, Annecy, and Lyon to expand its business tourism. The opening of a new conference hall at the Palais in June 2024 is part of this strategy, in partnership with hoteliers, to ensure the destination thrives year-round. This year, several establishments are already on board, such as the Novotel, Les Loges Blanches, as well as Cœur de Megève and Le Grand Hôtel du Soleil d’Or, which are now open all year long. Whether strolling through the village without the summer crowds or exploring the many hiking trails in spring or autumn, Megève is becoming an increasingly attractive destination during the off-season.

THE SERIES EMILY IN PARIS MADE A STOP IN MEGÈVE

Megève has always been a sought-after location for film shoots, as evidenced by Stanley Donen’s *Charade* in 1963 and Roger Vadim’s *Dangerous Liaisons* in 1960. This year, the series *Emily in Paris* brought its crew to the village to film part of episode 6 of season 4, currently streaming on Netflix. The episode follows Emily, played by Lily Collins, on a mountain getaway. Several iconic locations, such as the Four Seasons Hotel, Les Fermes de Marie, the Mont d’Arbois ski slopes, and the terrace of the Idéal 1850 restaurant, are featured on screen. As a nod to the film *Charade*, Emily’s skiing outfit matches that of Audrey Hepburn’s.
