Eco-friendly paper?

While digital technology continues to extend its influence, and all-digital technology becomes the norm, we remain faithful to paper. Not just because we know the pleasure of reading a beautiful medium, but also because we’re convinced that paper has solid eco-responsible arguments.

We have chosen PEFC-labeled paper to guarantee sustainable forest management: trees are planted and replanted in such a way as to guarantee supply without depleting natural resources.
Our magazine is 100% recyclable: we use acrylic varnish on the cover. Recycling paper reduces waste and the consumption of raw materials.

We print in the Alps, in a short circuit: in less than two hours’ drive, our magazines arrive at their distribution site. Our printer holds the Imprim’Vert label, for greater respect for the environment.

Our Altus are “keeper” magazines: we know that you’ll take them home with you, and that they’ll live on for years to come in your library, without any CO2 emissions… Unlike e-mails and data stored on servers: if the Internet were a country, it would be the world’s third largest consumer of electricity, after China and the USA!

So yes, as long as we live, we pollute, but we’re doing everything we can to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible, while offering you the best possible reading comfort.

Marron glacé

A warm, comforting hue, evocative of nature and gourmandise, brown takes advantage of winter to show off all its nuances. This year, several brands are offering special collections in limited editions, enough to give your interior a resolutely designer look.

 

In praise of minimalism

 Just as in architecture and interior design, the minimalist trend is making inroads into the world of decoration, with furniture pieces that are ever more streamlined. And yet, underneath this extreme simplicity lies true sophistication. Going for the essential reveals the talent of the designer, the craftsman and the beauty of the material. Never ceasing to push back technical limits and play with constraints, they design objects as authentic sculptures for living.

MODERN MOUNTAIN

In terms of both architecture and decoration, the mountain style is constantly evolving, combining its traditional codes with an assertive desire for modernity. Alpine living is changing, interacting with other worlds to maintain its appeal. Bold and creative, decorators and interior designers are reinventing this style without losing its personality.

The Anglo-Saxon-inspired bathroom first appeared in France during the Regency period, around 1730, but as Béatrice Fontanel (La Maison. Histoire des choses, Seuil) reminds us, if hygiene improved during the Age of Enlightenment, it was thanks to the comfort provided by the stove for undressing! This “place of delights”, as Georges Vigarello puts it, kept pace with scientific and technical progress. In 1954, only half of French homes had running water, and only 25% had a bathroom. It wasn’t until the late 1980s that almost all French people had access to the blue gold at home…

INTEGRATED STATIONS, A CHANGING HERITAGE

When they were first created, integrated stations were a field of experimentation for architects and designers. An architectural heritage that must now adapt to changes in society and new ways of visiting the mountains.

ONCE UPON A TIME, SNOW PLANS

At the turn of the 1960s, France was experiencing a period of extraordinary effervescence. At the heart of the “Trente Glorieuses”, the mountains became a major focus of national planning. The economy of progress was flourishing, society was becoming emancipated and aspired to all manner of freedoms.

In 1962, Prime Minister Georges Pompidou launched a major regional development policy. He created the Interministerial Commission for Mountain Development, which launched a vast project to build and modernize mountain resorts. The snow plans were born, and were to irrevocably change our relationship with mountain regions, which in just a few years became destination areas.
